구글 '사흘→four days' 오역 여전, 카카오 i와 파파고는?

번역 커뮤니티 구성원이 확인한 번역이지만, 문장은 정상 단어는 비정상 노출

내달 17일 임시공휴일 지정으로 시작된 '사흘' 파장이 집단 지성과 인공 지능의 상호 보완이 필요하다는 지적이 나온다.

23일 IT 업계에 따르면 '사흘'이라는 단어를 두고 구글 번역기와 헤이버니(heybunny)는 'four days'로 파파고·카카오 i·라인(LINE) 번역기는 'three days'로 번역한다.

구글 번역기는 번역 커뮤니티의 구성원이 결과를 확인해 기능을 개선하는 방식이다. '맞음'으로 여러 번 투표된 번역은 결과에 '커뮤니티 확인 완료'라고 노출된다. '사흘'이라는 단어만 놓고 본다면 구글 번역기는 커뮤니티에 가입해 수정을 제안할 수 있다.

<본지>는 PC에서 사용할 수 있는 번역 서비스 구글 번역기, 파파고, 카카오 i, 라인 번역기, 헤이버니(heybunny) 등을 대상으로 문장 번역을 비교했다. 이중에서 헤이버니는 국내 스타트업 '트위그팜'의 이메일 번역 서비스다. 

번역에 사용한 문장은 지난 22일 한국모바일게임협회가 배포한 '2020 인디크래프트' 관련 보도자료에서 발췌, 테스트 결과 문장 번역은 '사흘'이 정확하게 'three days'로 검출된다.
